Overview of prices for EU public affairs online campaigns

A comparison of the prices for a 1 month advertising campaign on Brussels' online media shows that EUObserver is probably the place where you get most for your money.

The print publication European Voice is listed for comparison (and because of their nice new website).

Jesus. Euractiv gets 215000 a month only? By that yardstick my blog must be a decent advertising opportunity as I get 21000 a month, almost 10% of Euractiv's total, and I'm just a one-man operation!

Yes, EurActiv has 215.000 unique visitors on their .com address, its main Brussels website. They have I think about a million page views per month.

The comparison with the other websites is difficult, as only EurActiv's readership figures are audited by a third-party (CIM).

I doubt that Euobserver really reaches 750.000 *unique* visitors, but I tried to compensate by estimating only 100.000 unique visitors for front page advertising.

Interestingly, it seems that only theparliament.com magazine doesn't make use of Google Analytics to measure their web traffic. So if everyone would just publish the figures of their Google Analytics data then advertisers would have accurate information for comparison. Something they should ask for.

Thanks for supporting price transparency.
In your price overview for EU affairs ad campaigns, EurActiv.com is attributed a CPM rate of 40, due to YOUR estimated reach of 50.000 (WHAT? PV? UV ?) for the Focus package (3 weeks advertising campaign).

As a matter of fact, EurActiv.com’s overall reach is 180.000 (BASIS, MONTH ETC), with banners on both home page and policy sections in three languages (CPM 11).

Even when an advertiser is only selecting a limited number of policy sections and banners, we will optimize the client’s media plan and TYPICALLY stay under CPM 30. DESPITE UNMATCHED RELEVANCE OF THESE READERS.

Moreover, EurActiv.com is the only specialised media that has CIM-certified figures, which makes a price comparison indeed very difficult, especially given that some competitors MAY mix up hits, page views or unique visitors.

Here is more information about EURACTIV ADVERTISING OFFER:

WE ALSO HAVE A FANTASTIC OFFER UNTIL MID DEC: AD CAMPAIGN ON WHOLE EURACTIV NETWORK, 9 COUNTRIES, 4 WEEK FOR ONLY 5000 EUROS

Mark, thank you for your feedback.

It is correct that only EurActiv and European Voice are really transparent about their readership data, as figures are third-party certified.

Estimating the CPM for one specific campaign is difficult from the outside. Thanks for clarifying the details about EurActiv's offer (and I don't say that EUObserver's CPM could be well above 30 €)
