At least the Greens reacted very quickly (and maybe some have read this blog article): the video is now possible to fast-forward and has a pause button. Just viewed it until the end.

There are still, however, some strange encoding/playback problems, leading to a bizarre auto-fast-forward scenes during the playback.

My recommendation: use industry proven tools like vimeo (or youtube for shorter videos) for your on-demand videos. This also allows sharing and embedding of the video.

Anyway, enough criticism for now (probably falsely directed at those that at least TRIED to broadcast the hearing). The discussion as such was great!

I can't believe it. In addition to the missing fast-forward the video also doesn't offer a pause function. I wanted to make a break after an hour and swooosh, everything is back to the start.

Indeed it works now. If having endured the not very encouraging first minutes of the stream, I am now watching Barrosos speak. I agree that a compilation would be nice but it's also interesting to be able to watch the full event as if one were present.

Erik, it seems that as of this morning you can watch the video at the address of the live stream page.

But hell, who has done the cutting of the video? It starts with 5 minutes noise and no fast-forward option is available.

After a short intro by Cohn-Bendit again a few minutes of noise.

Come on Greens, this is your most important video of 2009 I guess so far. Put it on YouTube or Vimeo or a site that works!

I knew about the live stream but couldn't watch live and hoped to find an on demand file or stream at the same URL yesterday evening.

The page looked nice and I got tehe impression I could still watch the stream on demand, as I saw some kind of control panel when I hovered the mouse pointer over the bottom left corner of the fancy green image. But even when the control panel said "Buffering..." nothing happened.

Even when the video footage was not available, there could have been a link to a short report or press release on the questioning session. But nothing. Nor is any report to be found (Thursday 9 am CEST) on the main site of the Green Group.

So in came Twitter, which allowed me to see how others experienced the live streaming (apparently it was a disaster...).

A pity, as this was a very laudable initiative and the Greens were champions of transparency in comparison with the other groups. So I do hope that some technical lessons will be learnt from this experiment.
